Leo was a boy who loved to play in the sunshine. He had a secret that he didn't even know himself. A secret that made him very special.
One day, a little bird fell out of its nest high up in a tall oak tree. It chirped sadly, unable to fly back to its mother.
Leo saw the tiny, helpless bird. He wished with all his might that he could help it. As he reached out his hand, his feet lifted off the ground!
He floated up, up, up, past the green leaves, until he was right beside the nest. "Hello there," he whispered to the mama bird.
Gently, he picked up the baby bird and placed it back in the nest with its brothers and sisters. The baby bird chirped happily.
Leo floated softly back down to the ground. He felt a happy warmth spread through his chest. He had done something good.
Later that day, a frisbee got stuck on the roof of the library. A group of children looked up at it, sad that their game was over.
Leo knew what to do. With a little hop, he floated up to the roof and grabbed the frisbee. He tossed it back down to the waiting children.
The children cheered! "You're a hero!" they shouted. Leo just smiled. He liked being able to help.
From then on, Leo knew his secret was a gift. A gift he would use to help others, becoming the kindest hero his town had ever known.
