Kaito bounced with excitement. Today was the first day of the Global Friendship Festival! Children from all over the world were coming to his town. He couldn't wait to meet them.

Soon, the festival grounds were buzzing with chatter. Kaito spotted a girl with bright eyes sitting quietly near a fountain. She looked a little shy. He decided to say hello.

"Hello!" Kaito said with a big wave. The girl looked up, a small smile appearing. "Bonjour," she replied softly. Kaito blinked. He didn't understand. She looked confused too.

Kaito pointed to himself. "Kaito!" he said clearly. The girl pointed to herself. "Amélie," she said, her voice a little stronger. They both giggled. Names were a good start!

Kaito tried to ask if she wanted to play. He mimed throwing a ball. Amélie watched, then shook her head gently. She didn't seem to understand his game. A little frustration crept in.

Amélie pulled out a small notepad and a pencil. She drew a simple flower. Kaito's eyes lit up! He took the pencil and drew a soaring bird. A shared language of pictures!

Suddenly, Amélie remembered something. She pulled out a small tablet from her bag. She typed a few words, and a voice said, "Do you want to play?" in perfect Japanese! Kaito gasped.

"Wow!" Kaito exclaimed. He took the tablet and typed, "Yes, let's play!" The tablet translated it into French for Amélie. They laughed, the language barrier shrinking.

They spent the rest of the day teaching each other simple words. Kaito learned "merci" (thank you) and "bonjour" (hello). Amélie learned "arigato" and "konnichiwa."

By the end of the day, Kaito and Amélie were the best of friends. They learned that even without speaking the same words, kindness, pictures, and a little help from technology could connect hearts across the world.
