What a sunny day in the garden! The sun shone bright, and the flowers bloomed. Here was Maya, ready to explore!
Maya crawled closer to a big, red flower. She reached out her tiny hand. Oh, how soft the petals felt! "F-l-o-w-e-r," whispered Maya.
Woof, woof! Who was that? It was Leo, the fluffy puppy! He bounded through the grass, his tail wagging happily.
Leo saw a bright yellow butterfly. Buzz, buzz! He chased it, barking with joy. "Bark, bark!" went Leo.
Maya watched the butterfly. She wanted to catch it! She tried and tried, but the butterfly flew too fast. Maya felt a little frustrated.
Lila, Maya’s wise grandmother, came to her side. "Hola, mi amor," she said softly. "Let's explore something new!"
Lila pointed to the bumpy bark of a tree. "This is 'bark,' and in Spanish, 'corteza.' In Mandarin, 'shù pí' (树皮)," she explained. Maya touched it, feeling the rough texture.
Then Lila showed Maya the soft, velvety leaves of a plant. "Suave," she said in Spanish. "Róu ruǎn" (柔软) in Mandarin. Maya giggled, enjoying the different feel.
Maya learned that exploring textures was just as much fun as chasing butterflies! She smiled, feeling the soft grass beneath her hands.
Leo joined them, wagging his tail. The garden was full of wonderful things to see, hear, and touch. What a sunny, happy day for Maya, Leo, and Lila!
