Sophie and Leo were siblings who loved to play together. But sometimes, they didn't see eye to eye, and that made the fun turn into a frown.
One sunny afternoon, they wanted to play with the big box of building blocks. “I want to build a tower!” shouted Sophie. “No, I want to make a castle!” yelled Leo. Their voices grew louder, and soon, the room felt a little too loud for comfort.
Mom heard the commotion and came to help. “How about we take a deep breath together?” she said. Sophie inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. It felt a little better.
“Can you tell each other how you feel?” Mom encouraged gently. Leo inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. It felt a little better.
“I feel sad when I can’t build what I want,” Sophie said softly.
“I just really want to make a big castle!” Leo replied. His eyes widened as he listened to Sophie. “I didn’t know that. I just wanted to make something too!”
With their feelings shared, they had a new idea! “What if we build a castle together?” suggested Leo. Sophie’s eyes brightened. “Yes! We can share the blocks!”
They started by sorting the blocks by color and size. Sophie found all the blue ones for the tall turrets, and Leo gathered the big red ones for the strong walls.
Piece by piece, the castle grew taller and wider. They helped each other reach the highest points and carefully placed each block. It was much more fun building together!
Soon, the biggest, best castle ever stood proudly in their living room. The room was filled with joy, and even their pet cat came to inspect their masterpiece, playfully sitting atop the highest turret.
