The Best Sandcastle Ever

Kai and Wren loved spending sunny days at the beach. They loved building sandcastles most of all! Today, they had big plans for the best sandcastle ever.

Kai wanted a tall, pointy tower, reaching up to the sky. "It needs to be super tall!" he exclaimed, pointing upwards.

But Wren had a different idea. "No, it needs big, wide walls to keep the ocean out!" she insisted, making a wide gesture with her arms.

Soon, their happy beach day started to feel a little wobbly, just like a sandcastle without strong foundations. They both wanted their own way, and they weren't listening to each other.

Just then, a wise old owl, Professor Hoot, landed nearby. He always knew just what to do when friends felt stuck. "Hoo, hoo! What's the trouble, little builders?" he asked softly.

Kai and Wren explained their different ideas, almost talking over each other. Professor Hoot listened patiently, nodding his head.

"It sounds like you both have wonderful ideas," Professor Hoot chirped. "But sometimes, when we're feeling big feelings, it helps to take a quiet moment. Let's all look at the ocean for a count of three."

After their quiet moment, Professor Hoot suggested, "Now, tell each other what you *really* want for the sandcastle, and why it's important to you."

Kai explained his love for tall towers, and Wren shared her wish for strong, wide walls. They realized they both wanted the sandcastle to be amazing, just in different ways.

"What if we build a super tall tower *with* super strong, wide walls?" Wren suggested, her eyes sparkling. "We can work together!" Kai agreed, and soon, the best sandcastle ever began to take shape, thanks to teamwork and a little help from Professor Hoot.
