Pip's Perfect Sounds

Meet Pip! Pip loved to talk. Pip talked when she woke up, Pip talked while she ate, and Pip talked all the way to the park. Sometimes, Pip talked so fast, her words got all jumbled up!

One sunny morning, Pip was telling her teddy bear, "I'm going to see my friends and play super-duper-silly-games!" But it sounded more like, "I'm go see my frenz an' pay supa-dupa-silly-gamez!" Her teddy bear just tilted its head.

At the park, Pip saw Silvan the squirrel. "Hi, Silvan! Wanna play hide-and-seek?" Pip asked. But Silvan heard, "Hi, ilvan! Wanna pay hide-an-eek?" Silvan looked puzzled.

Silvan scurried closer. "Pip," he said slowly, "can you try saying 'S-S-S-Squirrel' and 'S-S-S-Seek'?" Pip tried. "S-S-S-quirrel! S-S-S-eek!" she said, making a long, snakey 'S' sound. "That's it!" chirped Silvan.

Next, Pip saw Rory the rabbit. "Rory, let's race to the big red rock!" Pip shouted. But it sounded like, "Wowy, let's wace to da big wed wock!" Rory looked confused, twitching his nose.

Rory hopped over. "Pip," he said, rolling his 'R's, "try saying 'R-R-R-Race' and 'R-R-R-Rock'!" Pip tried, making her tongue rumble. "R-R-R-ace! R-R-R-ock!" she repeated. "Wonderful!" exclaimed Rory.

Pip felt so proud! Then she saw Theron the turtle, trying to open a tricky jar. "Theron, I can help you with that!" Pip offered. But it sounded like, "Teron, I can elp oo wit dat!" Theron just sighed.

Theron slowly turned to Pip. "Pip," he said, sticking his tongue out just a little, "try saying 'Th-Th-Th-That' and 'Th-Th-Th-Thank you'!" Pip tried, feeling her tongue between her teeth. "Th-Th-Th-That! Th-Th-Th-Thank you!" she said clearly. Theron smiled.

Now, when Pip talked, her words were clear and bright! "S-S-S-uper fun!" she told Silvan. "R-R-R-eady for more games!" she told Rory. Everyone understood her perfectly!

"Th-Th-Th-ank you for helping me!" she told Theron. Pip learned that taking her time with sounds made her words shine. And when her words shined, her friends understood her, and they all had the most wonderful, clear, and happy day together!
