Daniya loved painting more than anything. She saw the world in bright, beautiful colors. A happy thought was a splash of sunny yellow, and a silly giggle was a pop of bright pink. Her room was a rainbow of her favorite creations.
But sometimes, a sad feeling would come. It was a dull, gray color that made her shoulders slump and her paintbrush feel heavy. Today, she felt a little bit gray because she was painting all by herself.
Her mom, Amara, came into the room. "What's wrong, my little artist?" she asked softly. Daniya pointed to her canvas and then to herself. "I wish I had a friend to paint with," she whispered.
Amara gave her a big hug. "I know just the thing," she said with a warm smile. "Next week, you'll be starting a new vocational school. It's a special place for all kinds of creative kids."
Amara showed her a picture of the school. "Everyone there loves to create, just like you," she explained. "You'll be painting with new friends every day!" Daniya's gray feeling started to fade away.
On the first day, Daniya held her mom's hand tightly. The school building was a mix of bright colors, just like her paintings. She was a little nervous, but she clutched her favorite paintbrush for courage.
She peeked into the art room. It was a flurry of color and creativity! Some kids were painting with big, sweeping strokes, and others were making tiny, careful dots. Everyone was busy in their own way.
She saw a boy named Leo painting a picture of the sky. He was using only shades of blue and white. He looked a little stuck, his paintbrush hovering over the canvas.
Daniya walked over and gently pointed to a pot of bright orange paint. "The sky has a little bit of orange, too," she said softly. Leo looked at her, then at the paint, and his eyes lit up.
Together, they painted a beautiful sunset sky, full of blues and oranges and everything in between. Daniya felt a bright, happy yellow feeling inside. She had found a friend to paint with, and her world was more colorful than ever.
