Elara woke up with a fluttery feeling in her tummy. Today was her first day at a new school! She was excited, but a little bit nervous too.
When she arrived, the playground was buzzing with children. Some were chasing, some were laughing, and some were building tall towers. Elara stood by the gate, watching them all.
Over by the swings, a boy named Kai was soaring high, his giggles echoing through the air. He looked like he was having the best time, reaching for the clouds with every push.
Near the big oak tree, a girl named Willow was quietly drawing in a sketchbook. Her crayons were spread out beside her, and she hummed a little tune as she colored.
Elara wished she could join in, but her feet felt stuck to the ground. What if no one wanted to play with her? A tiny sigh escaped her lips.
Suddenly, Kai, still on the swing, spotted Elara. He slowed down his swing, gave a big wave, and called out, "Hi! Do you want to play?"
Elara's heart did a little leap. She took a deep breath and walked towards him. "Hi," she said, a small smile appearing on her face. "I'm Elara."
"I'm Kai!" he beamed. "Come meet Willow! She's drawing the most amazing dragon." He led Elara over to the oak tree.
Willow looked up from her drawing. "Wow!" Elara exclaimed, seeing the colorful dragon. "That's incredible!" Willow smiled shyly. "Do you want to add some stars?" she asked, offering a crayon.
Soon, Elara, Kai, and Willow were all playing together. Kai showed Elara how to pump the swing, and Elara helped Willow draw a whole galaxy of stars. Making new friends wasn't so scary after all!
