Leo loved to eat! Pizza, pasta, juicy apples, crunchy carrots – yum! But Leo thought all food just magically appeared in the supermarket aisles.
One sunny afternoon, Leo visited Grandma Eleanor’s house. Instead of a tidy lawn, Grandma Eleanor had a wonderful, wild garden!
"This is where our food begins, Leo," Grandma Eleanor explained, her eyes twinkling. "From tiny seeds, with a little help from the sun, water, and good soil, plants grow big and strong."
Together, they dug small holes and carefully placed tiny seeds inside. "These will be our tomatoes," Grandma Eleanor whispered, "and these, our crunchy lettuce."
Days turned into weeks. Leo visited often, watching the garden change. First, tiny green shoots peeked out, then leaves unfurled, and soon, colourful flowers bloomed.
"Time to harvest!" Grandma Eleanor announced one morning. They picked juicy red tomatoes, pulled up crisp lettuce, and dug for earthy potatoes. Their basket overflowed!
Back inside, Grandma Eleanor showed Leo how each food helped their bodies. "Tomatoes are good for your heart, lettuce gives you strong bones, and potatoes give you energy to play!"
They washed and chopped, mixed and stirred. Soon, the kitchen was filled with delicious smells. They were making a fresh, healthy salad and a hearty vegetable soup!
That evening, Leo proudly shared the meal with their family. "We grew this ourselves!" Leo exclaimed, beaming. Everyone agreed it was the most delicious food they had ever tasted.
From then on, Leo knew where food truly came from. It wasn't just from a shop, but from the earth, grown with care, and full of goodness. And Leo couldn't wait to plant more!
