Kenji pulled up a simple game scenario on a tablet. "Imagine you have two paths to a treasure," he said. "One looks faster, but it's guarded by a dragon. The other is longer but safer. Which do you choose?" Kai thought hard. "It depends on if I'm brave or if I want to play it safe!"
"Exactly!" Aura chimed in. "That's player choice! A good game gives you meaningful choices, where neither option is always the best. If one path was always better, then the choice wouldn't be fun, would it?" She explained how they tweak numbers and rules until every choice feels important and strategic.
Kenji then showed Kai examples of what happens when a game *isn't* balanced. "See this character?" he pointed to a glowing figure on screen. "We accidentally made them too strong. Players who picked them always won, and everyone else stopped playing. It ruined the fun for everyone."
Kai, feeling inspired, suddenly had an idea for a new game feature. "What if there was a power-up that let you fly for a short time?" they asked. Aura and Kenji listened carefully.
