"What a sunny day!" said Grandma Nia. "Let's go to the park, Lila and Rami!" Lila peeked from behind Grandma's leg. Rami held onto Grandma's hand. The park was big and bright.
Lila felt a little shy. Rami felt a little sleepy. The park had so many new things! "Look at these pretty flowers," Grandma Nia said softly.
Lila carefully touched a bright red petal. "Soft!" she whispered, a tiny smile starting. Rami reached out a tiny hand, too. "So soft," Grandma Nia agreed.
Next, they saw the swings. "Whee!" cried Grandma Nia. Lila looked a little worried. Rami held on tight in his baby swing.
"Bumpy, bumpy!" Grandma Nia chuckled as the swing moved. Lila watched, then bravely asked, "My turn?" She felt a little bit brave.
After the swings, they found a small pond. "Quack, quack!" went the ducks. Rami giggled and clapped his hands. "Splash!" said Grandma Nia as a duck jumped in the water.
Lila watched the ducks swim. She wasn't scared anymore! She felt happy and curious. "More quacks!" she cheered, pointing to the pond.
All that exploring made them hungry! Grandma Nia spread a colorful blanket. "Time for a special picnic!" she announced.
She shared yummy snacks from her heritage – sweet dates and crunchy flatbread. Lila tried a date, and Rami gummed a soft piece of bread. Everyone felt so happy together.
The sun began to set, painting the sky with orange and pink. "What a wonderful, brave, and happy day at the park!" Grandma Nia said, giving them a big hug.
