Once upon a sunny morning, Jamie stood at the corner of Maple Street, clutching a bright yellow backpack. Today was the day! Jamie was riding the bus to school alone for the first time.

With a deep breath, Jamie spotted the big blue bus approaching. "This is it!" Jamie thought, heart racing. Remembering Mom’s advice, Jamie raised a hand and smiled. The bus stopped, and the driver waved.

As Jamie climbed aboard, the friendly chatter of classmates filled the air. Finding a seat, Jamie felt a rush of independence. With each bump of the bus, excitement bubbled—school was just around the corner!

Jamie watched the familiar streets whiz by, trees and houses blurring into a colorful streak. The hum of the engine was a comforting sound, a rhythm to the morning's adventure. It felt good to be on the move, heading somewhere important.

Soon, the bus slowed, and the school’s tall brick building came into view. A tiny flutter started in Jamie’s tummy. Not a scared flutter, but an excited one, like butterflies doing a happy dance. Almost there!

The bus hissed to a stop, and the doors opened. Jamie carefully stepped down, joining the stream of cheerful students. The schoolyard was buzzing with laughter and greetings.

Right away, Jamie spotted Pip, waving from near the big oak tree. A wide smile spread across Jamie’s face. This big bus adventure was even better with friends waiting!

"Hi, Pip!" Jamie called out, hurrying over. "Guess what? I rode the bus all by myself today!" Pip’s eyes widened. "Wow, Jamie, that's amazing! Was it fun?"

Jamie nodded, a proud feeling swelling inside. "It was! A little bit scary at first, but mostly super exciting. I felt so grown up!" Pip grinned, "You ARE grown up!"

As the school bell rang, Jamie knew this was just the first of many bus adventures. Tomorrow, and every day after, the big blue bus would be waiting, ready to take Jamie on another journey.
